        <p>The inflammation is a complex process, which is frequently associated with pain and involves several events. Anti-inflammatory compounds can act on many steps of pathophysiological process by blocking the biosynthesis of proinflammatory mediators; by direct interaction with a key enzyme or by decreasing enzyme expression. The pomegranate, (Punica granatum L.)  has been used extensively in the folk medicine for a number of therapeutic purposes. In the present investigation antiinflammatory activity of pomegranate whole fruit (EPWF) and seeds (EPS) ethanol extracts and synthetic ellagic acid(EA) was evaluated in swiss albino mice using ethylphenylpropiolate and carrageenan induced edema models.
