New Drug and Clinical Trial Rules 2019: Paradigm Shift in Indian Pharmaceutical Industries

Manish Dagar, Khushboo Sharma, Ajay Kumar

ABSTRACTThe government notified the New Drugs and Clinical Trial Rules on 19th March 2019, to replace Part XA and Schedule Y of the Drugs and Cosmetics Rules 1945. Many new desirable changes have been made and these will help clinical research and trials in India. However, there are discrepancies which offset some of the advantages offered by the new rules. Including timelines for many regulatory functions, is among the main advantages offered, but incorrect use of terms, duplication of rule numbers is likely to complicate the regulatory procedures. The changed classification of Ethics Committees is a welcome feature, but it is unclear why the composition recommended by ICMR is accepted for the EC for Biomedical and Health Research, but not for the one for Clinical Trials, Bioavailability and Bioequivalence Studies. The government would do well to consider the suggestions made herein and amend the New Drugs and Clinical Trial Rules 2019. Md Zahid Arfi, Md Razi Ahmad2 Md Najibur Rahman, Md Tanwir Alam

ABSTRACTTajaweef-e-Anaf (Sinusitis) has tremendous impact on public health. It is the 5th known case of population16,17. Under such circumstances, the Unani medicine has proven its own importance regarding its efficacy, cost and minimal side effects. The present study was designed as an open label randomized clinical trial in successive patients with chronic sinusitis diagnosed on presentation, history and investigations. Sixty diagnosed patients of age between 15-60 years. Who belongs to inclusion criteria were registered, and compound Unani formulation (Ustukhuddoos, Filfil Siyah, Aslussoos) is given for 45 days. Complete physical examination & investigations of patients were done and follow-up planned prior of trial, 15th 30th day and at the end of trial. Subjective objective and safety parameter recorded. On objective parameters, there are two sub headings, pathological investigation and radiological examination. In Radiological examination, Calculating by Chi-square p-Value is 0.001 which is significant. While in pathological investigation in TLC, Lymphocyte, Eosinophils “P” value is 0.001, which is very significant. Haemoglobin “P” value is 0.517 and Monocyte, “P” value 0.088 which is not significant. Keywords: Tajaweef-e-Anaf; Ustukhuddoos; Filfil Siyah; Aslussoos; Unani Medicine.

Aswini EV, Vivek D, Swathilakshmi S

ABSTRACTDiuretics are one of the important class of drugs, act within the kidney and promote the loss of fluid from the body. Mechanism behind diuretics is compound interfere with the reabsorption of electrolytes their by promote sodium, potassium, chloride excretion in the body. Now adays herbal medicine use becoming popular due to toxicity and side effects of allopathic medicines. Diuretic activity study mainly conducted in animals. Most commonly preferred in vivo method is Lipschitz method. Rats or mice are the most commonly used animals. Diuretic activity study concluded that majority of plant extract possess diuretic activity similar to standard drugs like furosemide and hydrochlorothiazide. Diuretic activity determined by measuring urine volume, osmolarity, concentration of electrolytes, and pH. This review summarizes the herbal medicine used as diuretics and their botanical characteristics, ethnobotany, distribution and diuretic activity study. This review provide knowledge regarding surrounding herbal medicine used as diuretic and their significance in quality of life.
